Eastown Animal Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa is hiring for a part-time Veterinary Assistant.

About us:

Eastown Animal Hospital is a small animal, general practice that has provided care to patients from Des Moines, Pleasant Hill, Runnells, Altoona, and surrounding communities for over 80 years. We have a dedicated team that provides exceptional customer service and care to our patients and clients.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced and team-centered environment
• Willingness and ability to learn and improve from the guidance of others and be able to multi-task
• Reliable attendance
• Compassionate desire for animals and their environment
• Computer Literacy and proficient with Microsoft Office
• Excellent phone etiquette
• You must be willing to sit, stand, crouch, kneel, be on the floor with animals, and move throughout the day and be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• High School Degree required

Responsibilities:

• Restraining animals, restocking supplies, cleaning, assisting the technicians and Veterinarians
• Assist Veterinarians during examinations and other procedures
• Assist with laboratory procedures, radiographs, and other diagnostic testing
• Providing excellent customer service to pet owners
• Prepare medications, kennels, or other treatments needed for the patient as requested by the technician and Veterinarian
• Weekly schedule includes a 3-day work week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) with 8.5-hour shifts. No evening, weekend, or on-call shifts.
